Assistance with fuel costs: The objective of this program is to provide funds to maintain heat in households during the colder months. For Winter 2022-23, funds were available to provide vouchers for the cost of fuel oil, propane, or kerosene using selected sources with which we have relationships. Information on the 2023-24 options will be provided on this site (or by phone) as soon as it is available. The following describes the program as of 3/31/23:
1. Must be Spotsylvania County resident. Property must be the residence of the Client (owned or rented).
2. Please arrive at SECA between 9:30 am and noon if you need assistance purchasing fuel.
3. Assistance for fuel is available monthly November thru March. Client household must not have received fuel assistance in the past 30 days or financial assistance in the last 6 months.
4. Assistance may be provided for kerosene, propane, or fuel oil from sources designated by SECA.
5. Must visit SECA, present I.D., and complete an Assistance Request form.
6. Limits are 15 gallons of kerosene or 100 lbs of propane. Client must have tank(s)/can(s) with 15+ gallon capacity to obtain kerosene.
7. Vouchers are given for fuel and may require pickup at a specific location; some may have a “same day” expiration.
8. Assistance is provided “per household.”
9. Eligible clients may receive assistance with more than one service in the same visit.
